The Story Behind "Montecito"

Launched in 2021, "Montecito" quickly became a coveted treasure for those who have discovered it at the Laykin et Cie salon, located in the exclusive Rosewood Miramar Beach hotel in Montecito, California.

Erik Laykin, 4th generation California jeweler was inspired to create Montecito as his first fragrance in homage to his acquaintance, Annick Goutal, the creator of the classic Eau d'Hadrien in the mid-1980s. During her US launch in San Francisco, Annick shared with Erik the importance of following one's artistic passions and finding unique ways to express them. For nearly 40 years, Erik nurtured his desire to create beautiful perfumes and colognes, a dream that remained bottled up but finally came to fruition during the constrained years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
