    Nephertiti

    $12,500.00

Original sketch of the Nephertiti from the Laykin Archive circa 1935

Evoking the 1930's Art Deco interpretation of ancient Egyptian themes; this strong ring of sultry proportions and modernistic presence establishes it's presenter as a woman of conviction. Nephertiti was designed at the Laykin et Cie attelier on Sunset Blvd in 1935 and originally featured choices of opaque Onyx, Lapis or Malachite.

Our new interpretation of this stylistic gem ensconces gorgeous hand cut and polished gems to feature their stunning translucence devoid of the complexities created by facets. These stones which are hand carved in our workshop in Milan, Italy forcefully challenge the status quo with a bold statement of purity and resolution. Laykin et Cie is pleased to present Nephertiti in Blue or Brown Topaz, Yellow Citrine, Pink or Green Tourmaline, or Amethyst set in 18KT yellow gold.

    Nonius

    $62,000.00

This fabulous Laykin et Cie ring is named for the Roman Senator Nonius who owned the most beautiful "hazelnut sized" opal in the Roman Empire. After, refusing to sell the opal at any price to Marc Anthony so that he may present it to Cleopatra, Nonius was banished from Rome and lost all of his possessions except for one. The magnificent opal ring which he refused to relinquish. Such is the captivating nature of this multi colored and transfixing stone which in this example has been surrounded by a tempest of diamond waves buffeting on every side. But at the same time; the opal remains unmoved and steadfast. Intractable as Nonius.  This Laykin et Cie ring is set in platinum and features an important black opal from the Lightning Ridge mine of Australia and was originally conceived in 1941. Our workshop has faithfully reproduced this design using top quality diamonds weighing over 7 carats.

In addition to the images of the Nonius is an image of the original Laykin et Cie color sketch of this lovely ring from 1941 featuring a cabochon emerald.
